The Only Way Is Up
Ross County only interested in positive thinking
Ross County are only looking up and are not bothered about how big the gap is to the bottom of the SPL. The new boys in the top-flight want to stay for another season at least and their captain, Richard Brittain, says he and his team-mates are only focussed on winning points. They picked up all three points on offer on Boxing day when they beat fourth-placed Hibs away from home to take them nine points clear of Dundee. The Staggies have the chance of doing an Edinburgh double in four days as they host Hearts in Dingwall on Saturday. Brittain said: "We're not worried about what's below us. We're trying to focus on what's above us and to try to strive to get ourselves up the league. I'm a great believer that if you keep looking behind you, that's the way you'll go. If you keep looking onwards and upwards, that's the way you'll go and that's the way we'll continue to work." County now have a record of two-for-two against Hibs who are looking to secure a top-six finish this season. Hibs are seven points better off than County, but Brittain played down any chance of ending the season in the top-six in their first season since being promoted as Irn-Bru First Division champions ahead of Dundee. He went on: "Yes, we want to finish as high up the league as possible, but at the same time we've got to set a realistic target. If you look over the course of the season so far, I think it's a fair return of points we've got."
