The Things You Do For Your Club

Keith Lasley is willin to suffer for the cause as Motherwell strive for two reasons to celebrate Keith Lasley is willing to play for Motherwell through the pain barrier as the Steelmen continue to chase a top-six spot and a place in the Scottish Cup final. A rib problem has seen Lasley taking painkillers since taking a heavy knock in Motherwell's cup win at Stranraer more than two months ago. He had to grit his teeth on Saturday after taking another knock to the same area during the 2-1 win over Aberdeen as all three substitutions had been made. And he admitted he was "running on empty" on Wednesday as Well held on to the same scoreline against Dundee United. With Steve Jennings still suspended and Francis Jeffers, Gavin Gunning and Stevie Hammell likely to remain out against Hearts on Saturday, Lasley and others will continue to put their bodies on the line for the club.  Lasley said: "I've still got a little bit of a problem. We have a few injuries and it's not the biggest squad in the league. It's not stopping me playing, there are a few guys in the same boat playing with knocks. It's a crucial part of the season and it's all about getting the boys on the pitch and doing what we can. You saw towards the end we were starting to tire but hopefully we can recharge before Saturday. Especially when you've got a lead to hang on to, you are just doing what you can to get the points. It was a big three points the other night, it still might not be enough but we knew that would be a big step."  A win at Tynecastle would ensure a top-six spot, and a win for Killie over Inverness would put them there even if they lost. The 11 who start will also have the added incentive of boosting their hopes of facing St Johnstone at Hampden the following weekend. Lasley said: "Everyone wants to stay in the team for the semi. There are a few guys out and it's an opportunity for guys to come in and take their place."
