The Power Of Six

The number six appears to haunt Alloa these days. Alloa boss Allan Maitland is looking to his side to get over the disappointment of losing the Second Division to Stirling Albion. The side lost out by six goals last month and Maitland has now brought six new faces to Recreation Park as he looks to push his side into title winners in the new campaign. Albion Rover shot-stopper Jamie Ewings, Raith Rovers midfielder Darren Smith and Bathgate Thistle striker Jim Lister signed on at the weekend to join goalkeeper Stephen Robertson and midfielder Kevin McDonald who had already agreed to move over from Airdrie United along with Dumbarton captain Mick Dunlop. Maitland said: "Stephen, Kevin and Mick have now completed their paperwork to join us and I am delighted to add the other three players as well. Darren is one of the best part-time players in Scotland and had a number of clubs chasing him, whereas Jim is really keen to take his second chance in the Senior game. He played at Berwick a couple of years ago but was injured and never made the impact he should have. I am pleased to have Jamie on board as well as he will provide great competition with Stephen for the goalkeeper’s jersey." Maitland is determined that his refreshed side will go one better this time when he said: "Whether it was six goals or six points the end result was the same in that we finished second. Bringing these guys on board shows our determination to lift the title." Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba net)Admin Team (admin@scottishfitba net)This is Scottish-Fitba Net
