The Lawman Is Backing The Dons

A famous son of Aberdeen is looking to his fellow Aberdonians to support the Dons in their hour of need. Scotland hero Denis Law is backing the Dons to survive the relegation fight they find themselves in. He is asking every single Aberdeen fan to get right behind the side in the final five games of the season. A run of poor results means the Dons are now involved in a relegation dog-fight after losing to St Johnstone left them just six points above the drop zone. Manager Mark McGhee is worried for his job ahead of a six-pointed against Falkirk on Saturday.  Aberdeen want a good crowd behind them as they battle to retain SPL status. Season ticket holders can take a friend to the match for free in an attempt to bolster numbers and Law, who was born in the city and grew up supporting Aberdeen, believes the club needs their supporters now more than ever. He said: "You've got to realise that teams go through bad spells. They all do, teams like Manchester United, through the years, there are no exceptions. So the fans have really got to get behind the team, that is the most important thing. The players who are on the pitch will need that support from the fans. My words to the fans would be 'get behind them and let's hope they win'. I can assure you, when you run onto the pitch, the fans can be worth a goal start. It's important that they get behind you as a team. That's where you get that extra energy from. I'll be listening to the game somewhere. I won't say I'll be praying but I'll be hoping they win."
