Danny Lennon has no reason to promote the claim of Leigh Griffiths to win the PFA Scotland player-of-the-year award. The Hibs striker has scored seven goals in the four meetings between the sides. Number six and seven were scored yesterday at Easter Road in a thrilling 3-3 draw. Griffiths and his team-mates efforts deprived the Buddies the chance of relaxing as they are still within the points reach of bottom club Dundee, who won 1-0, so have not guaranteed SPL safety. Griffiths has scored 27 goals so far this season and Lennon insisted the Scotland forward, on loan from Wolves, has done enough to earn individual recognition. He said: "He's a very good player. I will be very surprised if he's not the worthy winner of the PFA Player-of-the-Year award."The fight for SPL survival carries on to next Saturday's when the Paisley Saints meet Hearts at Tynecastle. St Mirren did have a 15 point cushion over the Dens Park side but that has been reduced to just eight. Lennon said: "As a neutral it was a very good game. But in the first half, all I'll say is that we didn't turn up at all. Those are issues that we'll address internally. In the second half we got that bit of urgency along with some good tempo and from a position of being 1-0 down we got ourselves into a 3-2 lead and looking the more likely winner at that stage. But Hibs are a good side and once again they came back into it. I must congratulate Dundee and the fight that they are having. But nothing changes for us - we'll still go out there like every other game and our aim and ambition will be to win it."
