Stirling Albion Play An Unusual Game

06 October 2010 11:03
Whoever heard of a club's board passing on a freebie to their fans? Stirling Albion do not appear to be playing the game as far as how they treat the benefits associated with running a club. The fan owned a run club will now offer the four pairs of  tickets for the Scotland game against Spain on Tuesday 12 October allocated to the club to their fans rather than being used by the Club’s Executive Board. Club spokesman Paul Goodwin said: "The allocation of international match tickets to its member clubs by the SFA has traditionally been seen as a perk for club directors and we are essentially continuing that tradition, but in our case it’s our supporters who will benefit. As a club owned by its Supporters Trust, the four pairs of tickets allocated to Stirling Albion FC by the SFA effectively belong to our members.  Other clubs will undoubtedly see their allocation being used by their Boards of Directors but ours is being offered, by ballot, to our members and our season ticket holders. We’ve already had around 200 requests from our members to be entered into the ballot so we know there is positive interest in this decision. Any member of the Stirling Albion Supporters Trust, season ticket holder or owner of a BinoBond can put their name into the hat and have a chance of receiving one of the four pairs of tickets we’ve been allocated by the SFA."The closing date to register an interest in the 4 pairs of tickets is at 12 noon on 8 October with successful fans being informed by 12 noon on 8 October. Details of how to apply is on www.stirlingalbionfc.co.uk. Goodwin went on: "We offered our allocation of tickets to the Liechtenstein last month to test out how best we allocate the tickets to our members and that was successful so we’ll now continue to do this with every member allocation we receive."
