Stirling Albion Celebrate Billy Bremner

Stirling born Billy Bremner will be the focus of a fundraising dinner next March Scotland football legend Billy Bremner is to to be celebrated at a fundraising dinner next year organised by his home town team, Stirling Albion. Bremner never forgot he came from Stirling as he moved away and played football in England with Leeds and gained legend status by captaining the unbeaten Scotland at the 1974 World Cup Finals in West Germany. Bremner was also named as one of the players of the 1974 World Cup Finals.Stirling Albion spokesman Paul Goodwin said: "Billy Bremner was born in the Raploch area of Stirling and although he never signed for the club he retained very close links throughout his life.  He was a ball-boy in his early years and when he made his name he never forgot the club by taking young Stirling players to Leeds United summer training camps every season.  His testimonial game even featured Stirling Albion against Leeds United."The fundraising dinner will be held at the Doubletree Dunblane hotel on 26 March 2011 with funds raised going to Stirling Albion FC and Scotland’s biggest children’s charity, Aberlour, which is headquartered in Stirling.
