Stevenson Could Get A Rocket

Paulo Sergio is still waiting for a call from Ryan Stevenson

Hearts manager Paulo Sergio is disappointed with Ryan Stevenson who has not been back in touch after saying he would be willing to return to action. The midfielder, who is out of contract in the summer, effectively went on strike before Christmas in protest at yet another delay of wages which were due on 16 December following two previous major delays in monthly payments. Sergio says Stevenson got in touch to say he was happy to come back after the wages were paid on 4 January, but he never materialised. Sergio would like to see him back in the team and he is unsure whether Stevenson, who has been linked with a move to Bristol City among other npower Championship teams, will face disciplinary action. Sergio said: "It's not my business. Last week I said I have no problem with Ryan and the team has no problem with Ryan. This week I have to say that I was disappointed that, after he communicated with me saying he wants to come back, he changed his mind two days later. I didn't stay happy with that. But I still like him a lot and he's a good player who can help Hearts to win games. But at some moments in life you make decisions and you have to be responsible for those decisions. I think he knows that. Everybody is responsible for their decisions." Hearts players have been told by the club they will be paid next week on their regular pay day, the 16th of the month, falling on Monday. Last week, the SPL issued a ruling demanding that the club pay players on time this month, and goalkeeper Marion Kello hopes there is some leeway should they arrive a day late. Kello said: "Sometimes if money is coming from far away, it might be a few hours, it could be the 17th in the morning, which is nothing important. It's not a big deal for me if it's the 16th or the 17th. I wouldn't be happy if there were any sanctions if the payment was one day late. One day is nothing."
