Steven Davis Eyes A Replay

More of the same seems to be the attitude for Rangers after they picked up the Co-operative Insurance Cup  Goal scorer Steven Davis believes the attacking attitude adopted by Rangers to win yesterday's Co-operative Insurance Cup final against Celtic at Hampden has to be replicated in the final league derby of the season. Celtic were odds-on favourites ahead of the Hampden final but Rangers, who had been criticised for being too cautious in the previous four Old Firm games this year, changed their game plan and beat Celtic in extra-time. There was a more positive look to the line-up against Celtic, with Nikica Jelavic supported by Steven Naismith. Walter Smith's side were rewarded when Jelavic scored a dramatic extra-time winner, which hit both posts before crossing the line, after Davis' opener in the first half had been equalised by Joe Ledley. Davis, named man of the match, is looking for more of the same when they play Celtic again after the split in what is sure to be a crucial game in terms of the destination of the league title.  Davis said: "We decided to come and have a go. We played two up top and got them turning and caused them problems, and throughout the course of the game I think we deserved victory. Based on the last few games against them you have to have a go and if you don't do that then it's always going to be difficult. It's hard work, you have to press them up the park and put a lot of effort into the game. But overall we deserved the victory and get the first silverware of the season."  Davis was happy to be back to his best form but was reluctant to place too much importance on the cup final win.  The Northern Ireland international said: "You are always hoping that in a game of this magnitude you can go out and produce the goods on a personal level and as a team. Everyone played their part today, it was a big team performance and we caused Celtic problems. Hopefully that will give us a boost for the league but I don't think it will have too much bearing in the title. There is so much football to be played and it is tight so you can't read too much into this game."  Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba net)Admin Team (admin@scottishfitba net)This is Scottish-Fitba.Net
