St Johnstone Welcome Underdog Tag

The Perth Saints have the chance to erase Tuesday's result as they welcome Celtic to McDairmid Park.

The game of the day is St Johnstone v Celtic and Liam Craig considers the home side being named as the underdog will help them at McDiarmid Park. Steve Lomas' side picked up seven points in his first three games as Saints manager - a draw with Rangers and wins over Edinburgh sides Hibs and Hearts. Since then, the Perth side have lost 3-0 to Motherwell and 2-1 to Aberdeen, in a game many predicted the Perth side would win. Celtic want to keep the pressure on in the race for the SPL title and midfielder Craig is relishing the challenge. He said: "We're looking forward to the game and it's a massive game - it's a good game to bounce back in. We're disappointed with the last two results at home and against Celtic on Sunday there will not be many people expecting us to get anything. Maybe that's when we're going to be at our best - when we're going into games as underdogs. In the last two games, with the form we'd been in, we were probably favourites." Saints secured a 1-0 win at Parkhead in August, but Craig believes that result has little bearing on today's game. He added: "We know it's going to be a totally different game. Celtic are a quality side and we're going to be under a lot of pressure for a lot of the game. If we do get chances it's important we take them and we stop giving away sloppy goals like we have done in the last two games." St Johnstone 'keeper Peter Enckelman was responsible for both Aberdeen goals in Tuesday league defeat, parrying a Ryan Jack shot for Scott Vernon to score and mis-kicking a clearance allowing Jack to score from the halfway line. However,  Craig and his team mates are backing the Finn to perform, having made crucial saves at Hearts and in the win at Celtic earlier this season. Craig went on: "Pete won us the game at Tynecastle. When he makes a mistake it usually ends up in a goal, whereas when any other player makes a mistake, you've still got nine or 10 boys behind the ball. Pete's a quality goalkeeper and he'll bounce back from it."
