Spiers Must Be Doing Something Right

Queen's Park look to be preparing for next season with almost their entire 2010-11 squad. Queen’s Park’s head coach Gardner Speirs has managed to persuade the majority of his players to stay for another season rather than leave and try their luck in a professional side. Even hot properties such as top goalscorer Jamie Longworth, midfield dynamo David Anderson and promising full back Darryl Meggat have all agreed to stay on as opposed to moving to other SFL clubs. From the Spiders first team pool only three players have not signed so far and they are club captain Richard Sinclair, defender Paul Gallacher and midfielder Martin McBride. Speirs is not unduly concerned and said: “It is more a case of these players checking out their work or university commitments over the next year as opposed to them wanting to leave Hampden. It is great to have so many of the team that got us to the play-offs signed on again and hopefully we can go one better next year.”
