Spartans 1 Celtic 0 Scottish Premier League Cup Semi-Final

We now know one of the finalsists as Spartans see off Celtic

Spartans became the first side through to the Scottish Women’s Premier League Cup final after beating Celtic 1-0 tonight in Linlithgow. The Edinburgh side got off to the perfect start opening the scoring in just eight minutes through Sarah Ewens. Diana Barry flicked the ball into space for her strike partner who ran on to shoot past the advancing Celtic and Scotland number one Gemma Fay in the Hoops goal.

Celtic piled on the pressure in the second half but failed to get an equaliser as Spartans defended resolutely. The Edinburgh side will now be in their third League Cup final in successive years and await their opponents as Forfar Farmington and Glasgow City do battle on Thursday night in the remaining Semi-Final tie. That game will take place at Hill of Beith, kick off 7.30pm.
