Sometimes Football Is Taken Too Seriously

06 April 2010 15:13
You should be careful what you believe on the net as well as the papers. The joke made last week by Peterhead manager Neale Cooper appears to have been taken far too seriously. Cooper had been quoted as asking winger Graeme Sharp to get in touch as he was lost in Brazil. However, Sharp arrived back from work commitments in the South American country on 1 April, appropriately enough, unaware of Cooper’s joke on the Balmore club’s website. Sharp was part of the Blue Toon squad that beat Brechin City 2-1 at the weekend with  Cooper explaining: “Graeme arrived at Heathrow and picked up a newspaper to read that he was AWOL from the club. I had made a joke on the club’s website that Sharpie was missing and could he get in touch. The next thing we knew the story had grown arms and legs. I am delighted to have Graeme available again and I would stress that he was never AWOL from the club at anytime.” Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba.net)Admin Team (admin@scottishfitba.net) This is Scottish-Fitba.Net
