Just some snippets to show there is football below the SPL Forfar were pleased to see that two of their long term injured players came through a closed door game unscathed on Tuesday night. Defender Alastair Divine and midfielder Darren Brady both played for the first time in nearly a year as the Loons overcame Montrose Roselea 2-0 with Martin Fotheringham grabbing both goals with one coming from a penalty.Albion Rover's manager Paul Martin is pleased to agree a deal with former Hamilton midfield star Tony Stevenson which will see him stay until the end of the season. Martin was worried that big spending Junior sides may have beat him to it. Stevenson has the honour of being the player who scored Accies’ first ever SPL goal 2 years ago, against Dundee United. Martin said: “Tony has been here for a month and done really well. He could have doubled his money by going Junior, however he sees Albion Rovers as a great platform to get back to full time football so I am really pleased.”Queen’s Park’s head coach Gardner Speirs has his fingers crossed hoping that midfielder David Anderson will be fit for the trip to Arbroath as the summer signing has already become a vital cog in the Spiders squad. Anderson moved from Junior side Kilbirnie Ladeside and starred as Queen’s made a good start in the ALBA Challenge Cup in seeing off Livingston and Montrose as well as giving Forfar a fright, however a hip injury has curtailed his involvement recently. Speirs said: “Despite just joining us David is a key part in our team. He has made the step up from the Juniors really well and it will be a lift for everyone if he is fit for Gayfield.”Alloa players are kicking back with some R&R this week as manager Allan Maitland has decided that they deserve a break given their intense start to the season. Maitland said: “We have played full time sides in Dundee, Livingston and Aberdeen and had tightly fought league games with Stenhousemuir, East Fife and Brechin as well as a cup-tie with East Stirling. Five of those games have been away from home so I have decided that the players can have a wee break and re-charge their batteries.” Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba.net)Admin Team (admin@scottishfitba.net)This is Scottish-Fitba.Net
