SFA dismiss Catalonia reports

Scotland have no plans to play a friendly match against Catalonia at the end of the year, a Scottish Football Association spokesperson has told Press Association Sport.

There has been speculation linking Craig Levein's side with the game scheduled for December 28.

However, an SFA spokesperson said: "Contrary to speculation, there is no commitment from the SFA to take part in this fixture. The same story circulated this time last year and it is without foundation again."

Press Association Sport also understands that Celtic boss Neil Lennon will not discover this week if he is to be punished for comments made following his dismissal to the stand by referee Craig Thomson during the 2-0 defeat by Hearts at Tynecastle last month.

Lennon branded Joe Ledley's red card as "ridiculous", and claimed the match officials "probably have their story ready already" - an apparent reference to the incident involving referee Dougie McDonald when he rescinded a penalty awarded to Celtic against Dundee United in October.

The general purposes committee was scheduled to meet at Hampden on Monday to discuss the matter but were thwarted by the poor weather conditions.

It was reported that Lennon's case had consequently been discussed by the committee via conference call and that the decision would be relayed to the Celtic boss this week.

However, a source told Press Association Sport: "Neil Lennon's case has not been discussed by conference call and will not be discussed by conference call. It will not be discussed until all the committee members can meet face to face."

The Irishman has already appealed against the automatic two-game ban he received for being sent to the stand by referee Thomson after Celtic were denied a penalty.

He faces a further charge of excessive misconduct for his touchline behaviour during the Tynecastle match which is set to be dealt with by the SFA's disciplinary committee next Tuesday.
