Select Committee Want To Hear Progress Report On Implementation Of McLeish Report

As parliament continues to be interested in how football's house is being kept in order, a gathering of the select committee will take place at Wembley today. SFA chief executive, Stewart Regan will speak before the UK Government's Culture, Media and Sport select committee today to confirm the SFA’s commitment to the Review of Scottish Football written by, ex-First Minister, Henry McLeish. As part of the committee’s inquiry into football governance, the Regan will take part in an evidence session held at Wembley Stadium. David Bernstein, the chairman of the FA and general secretary Alex Horne have been asked to present an update on the FA’s progress since the Burns Report was published in 2005, especially in light of the high profile departures of Lord Triesman and Ian Whatmore. The SFA is in the final stages of recruiting a Performance Director as part of its new performance strategy and is also working on radical reforms to its governance in time for the Annual General Meeting on 7 June. Regan is looking forward to the opportunity to inform the Committee of the positive steps undertaken by the SFA.  Regan said: "The invitation to speak before the Culture, Media and Sport select committee gives us a great opportunity to discuss the work that is under way at the Scottish FA. I have stated before that we are committed to change and modernisation and it is encouraging that the committee have recognised this in relation to the work that they wish to see from the FA. The McLeish report has given us a great platform to create a new vision and set of values for the Scottish FA, built on integrity, unity and trust. These principles will become pillars for a new strategic plan and we are already putting plans in place for a new governance structure – in line with McLeish’s recommendations – and a more efficient and streamlined judicial system to deal with disciplinary matters."
