Security Is The Name Of The Game

Israel is not the place to cause trouble at a game

Playing in Israel is not like playing games in the majority of countries. The security aspect of the game is not something that teams usually have to worry about. The women's team in Israel for their EURO2013 qualifying campaign opening game were accompanied on the trip by Danny Dyer who is more used to being match commander at Ibrox and Parkhead before he retired from the force last year. He has been working with colleagues in Israel and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office to ensure that all goes well and the match does not make any headlines apart from on the back pages. Security in Israel is usually back up by armed forces so it would be dangerous to step out of line. Thankfully, after checking this morning, there are no security issues to worry about as the team turned up at the Ness Ziona Stadium. There was an unexpected surprise for the team as they were welcomed to the ground by a man originally from Skye and now living in Israel so at least they have some support. We just get everywhere!
