Ipswich loanee Ryan Fraser scored the winner as Scotland Under-21s came from behind to defeat 10-man Northern Ireland Under-21s 2-1 in Lurgan.

Winger Fraser, who is spending the season at Portman Road from Bournemouth, grabbed the winner 28 minutes from time after Dale Gorman had been sent off moments earlier for a second bookable offence.

In the two sides' opening game of their Euro 2017 qualifying campaign, the hosts had drawn first blood when Charlton teenager Mikhail Kennedy was on hand to finish a left-wing cross from Michael Duffy in just the seventh minute.

Ryan Gauld and John McGinn both came close to a leveller before Celtic's new signing Ryan Christie got behind the Northern Irish defence and fired in an equaliser prior to the break.

Northern Ireland's senior side had benefited from a red card in their game with the Faroe Islands on Friday night, yet their Under-21 counterparts were on the other end of a dismissal as Gorman saw red for two quick cautions in the 59th minute.

And just as it had in Torshavn, it did not take long for the team with one man extra to press home their advantage.

Fraser swept home following a free-flowing move to score his fourth goal for club and country already this term and give the Scots a winning start.
