Rooney Not A Red Yet

There have been no approaches to take Adam Rooney to Russia Terry Butcher insists there have been no approaches for Adam Rooney despite reports the striker could be on his way to somewhere even colder that Scotland, Russia. Recent reports have former Chelsea and Romania player Dan Petrescu lining up a bid to take the Irishman to his Russian top-flight side Kuban Krasnodar. The former Stoke player is out of contract with Inverness in the summer and is sure to be attracting attention after adding 13 goals this season to the 26-goal haul he netted during Caley Thistle's successful season in the First Division. But Butcher, whose team host Elgin in the Scottish Cup fourth round on Saturday, dismissed the prospect of the striker heading to Russia this winter. Butcher said: "The boys have been calling him Oleg and comrade, he's been getting pelters. There's nothing in that and still nothing in that. That's actually created a bit of fun in the dressing room and that's all it is, a piece of nonsense as far as we're concerned. We have had no contact from anyone about any of my players. It's still early in the transfer window, I think the bulk of the business will be done towards the end." Butcher is hoping he will be able to do some transfer business this month but as ever he is restricted by finances to a large degree. And much will depend on whether Kevin McCann can recover quickly enough from a knee injury to extend his loan deal from Hibs before the transfer window closes. Butcher said: "We'll wait and see what Kevin McCann's surgeon says. A fully-fit Kevin McCann is a great asset to any team. He has only played nine games but he has been excellent for us and he's a great kid as well. We'll wait and see but it would be nice to extend that loan or get someone else in. Possibly we may do a bit of business but players have to go out before other players come in." Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba net)Admin Team (admin@scottishfitba net)This is Scottish-Fitba Net
