Revolving Door Now Includes A Player

After losing promotion winning boss Danny Lennon to SPL St Mirren, Cowdenbeath's playing staff has now been raided by a Fife neighbour. Raith Rovers have made a further move towards preparing for their second season back in Division 1 by completing the signing of winger Scott McBride from Fife neighbours Cowdenbeath. The former Dunfermline player has agreed a full-time deal with the Stark’s Park club. Although he was only on Cowden’s books for five months — having previously been on loan to them from the Pars since the summer of 2009 — Raith may have to pay a small sum by way of compensation for McBride, an issue that’s yet to be settled.A meeting will be held on Monday at Central Park to discuss Danny Lennon's replacement at the newly established First Division club.Jimmy Calderwood stated recently he was not looking forward to a spell out of football again after resigning from the Kilmarnock job but it is unclear whether the former Dunfermline and Aberdeen boss has e-mailed his CV to Central Park.Other names mentioned locally in connection with the job - Jocky Scott, another former Dunfermline boss, Once again Cowden's new higher status might attract someone who previously would not have had Central Park on their radar. Jim McInally of East Stirlingshire and formerly Morton could be in the frame and there might be even a possible return for 2006 promotion winning manager Mixu Paatelainen although that one seems more connected to wishful thinking. Of course, Jim Duffy should not be ruled out after he led Brechin from fourth in Div 2 to a play-off final against the Blue Brazil last season before resigning after Cowden won 3-0 on aggregate.Local man Dick Campbell led Forfar to promotion to Division 2 on the same day Cowden won promotion in the play-offs but Campbell's previous spell at Cowdenbeath FC in the late 80's ended disastrously with a run of defeats including a 6-2 home defeat by Montrose in Division 2. Campbell also managed at Dunfermline later in his career. The loss of Lennon is something of history repeating for Cowden who lost Paatelainen shortly after the 2005/6 campaign and another former Hibby, John Brownlie, went from the manager's chair in pre-season before Cowden faced Div 1 in 1992/3 after promotion. Replacement Andy Harrow, a former player, led Cowden on one of their worst ever league campaigns and eventually to relegation after coming to the club with a CV carved out in local Junior football. Blue Brazilians will be hoping the current board take a little more time to ponder Lennon's successor before hopefully picking someone suited to give  'Beath a fighting chance in the second tier of Scottish League football, somewhere they haven't been for 17 years.  Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba net)Admin Team (admin@scottishfitba net)This is Scottish-Fitba.Net
