Return To Paisley

Travel is good but sometimes home is best Defender Marc McAusland has returned to St Mirren Park after agreeing a three-year contract with the club. The defender left the club last summer for Queen of the South after making just six substitute appearances for his boyhood idols. But, after 30 appearances for the Doonhamer, new Saints manager Danny Lennon has made the centre-back the eighth signing since he arrived. McAusland said: "It is definitely good to be back. My time at Queen of the South was really good but everybody knows I'm a Paisley boy and a St Mirren fan so it is great to be back. Leaving last year was a big decision but I went to Queen of the South because I thought I had the chance of playing first team football. And I got that first-team experience there by playing over 30 games, so I got what I was looking for. The opportunity of coming back to St Mirren was too hard for me to resist so I'm happy to sign up here again. I think I have developed well over the last year as a player. The First Division is a very physical league so it was a big learning curve but it was an experience that I really enjoyed."
