After Dunfermline fans cleared the snow from surrounding streets, it is understandable that the club were disappointed to hear that referee Bobby Madden had decided to postpone the game against Kilmarnock due to fog. The ground was already clear of snow when Madden carried out his 1.30pm inspection. However, he felt that in the interests of all with safety in mind that an early decision was required. The postponement provoked some ire among the home side hierarchy. Dunfermline chairman John Yorkston was "totally bemused" and said at the time: "There's no reason at all it should be called off - I can see the far end of the park. I have not got a clue why it's been called off.". By the time the scheduled 3pm kick-off arrived, Jim McIntyre's side were conducting a training session unhindered after the fog cleared. The SPL will now be seeking talks with the SFA at Hampden. SPL company secretary Iain Blair said: "We will be speaking to the SFA to understand the decision made on Saturday and to see what lessons can be learned." Yorkston estimated the decision could cost the club between £20,000 and £40,000, not all of which would be forthcoming from returns for the rearranged game, which would likely take place on a midweek evening.
