Racchi'ng Up The Games

After a frustrating 2011-12 season, Danny Racchi is keen to show what he can do.

Kilmarnock's Danny Racchi hopes he can make a regular place in the team this season his own after an injury-free pre-season. Last year was not one of the best for the midfielder as he spent as much time on the bench as he did on the pitch following his move from York City. However, after a pain-free summer Racchi has featured in every game so far and ahead of the trip to Ross County, he stressed the importance of a good fitness base. Racchi said: "It is going a little bit better than last season, obviously. At this point last season I was coming off the bench because I had been injured so I 'm over the moon to have been involved in every game so far. This is the first full pre-season I have had without injury in the last four years. Hopefully that (fitness) has shown itself to the gaffer and the coaching staff. Last season I missed a couple of weeks here and there through injuries. So it is has been quite good for me. I just want to keep hold of my shirt and keep doing what I'm doing to stay in the team. I don't think any player will be playing fully fit, you are always going to have niggles that will bother you. As long as your fitness levels are good those things go away during the games and you can produce." Racchi was not impressed by the midweek home defeat by part-time Stenhousemuir in the Scottish Communities League Cup and is looking to get back on track against County. Racchi is expecting a tough test against the Dingwall side whose 38-game unbeaten league run extends over a year. He said: "We know what they are like from last season. They had a really good season and I watched them against Celtic recently, so we know how good they are. We have to go there and do a job because we want to start getting the results. Obviously we did really well against a good Dundee United side last week but hopefully we can carry on and get a few more points on the board."
