Young player of the month prize goes to Johnny Russell Dundee United's Johnny Russell has picked up the SPL player of the month award for July/August  but it is unlikely he we make it two in a row after being sent off for moving his head towards the face of Kirk Broadfoot during his side's 1-0 defeat by Rangers on Saturday. Russell has effectively replaced David Goodwillie up front following the latter's £2million-plus move to Blackburn. Russell has scored just the one goal in the first few weeks of the league season, in a 5-1 defeat at Celtic Park. He will be hoping to capture the back pages headlines for the right reasons in the future.
