The end of the calendar year brings forward those awards ceremonies that recognise achievement. There will be more leaving disappointed than leaving as winners but it is good to gather together and recognise all achievements Glasgow City has been shortlisted for the prestigious ‘Team of the Year’ award which willbbe handed out at the glittering Scottish Sports Awards which will take place on Thursday at the Thistle Hotel in Glasgow. Scotland’s main Sporting awards, sponsored by Sportscotland and the Sunday Mail, provide the unique opportunity for some of Scotland’s finest sporting stars and achievements to be recognised at the highest level. Glasgow City face some extremely stern competition and are shortlisted along with the Glasgow Warriors and Scotland’s Women Curlers for the coveted prize.Commenting on the nomination, Club Manager Laura Montgomery said:  “We are extremely proud to be shortlisted for such a prestigious prize at the main Scottish Sports Awards. To be in the final top three when up against all teams and all sports in Scotland is quite humbling to be honest and it is an honour to be amongst sides such as the Warriors and our incredible Scottish female Curling Team. Do I think we will win? Probably not, as the Curling team have simply been unbelievable and I think any team that wins the World Championships deserves to be the Scottish Team of the Year. However, it is fantastic to be recognised for our second successive domestic treble and for reaching the last 16 in Europe for the 2nd time in 3 years and we are honoured to be amongst the amazing array of sports stars who will be there on Thursday. We are very much looking forward to the night.”
