Poor Pars Fail Again At Home

No cup glory to lift league form for Dunfermline last night.

It was cold at East End Park last night as Dunfermline welcomed Inverness Caledonian Thistle to Fife for the William HIlls Scottish Cup Fourth Round replay. Unfortunately, there was not much in the first half to warm the sparse crowd huddled in the main stand. Even less so for me as I was trackside for the second time only with my cameras.

The temptation to keep the hands in the pockets more often than not as the half wore on was strong as on the occasions I lifted the camera, the attack I was following inevitably broke down. Even the Pars club photographer was glad to get in for the pie and coffee at half-time and his side were one up by that time. He did not think they would hang onto the lead and he was proved correct as once again Chris Smith let his side down with a blunder that resulted in Jonny Hayes getting a tap in to take the tie into extra time.

Gregory Tade was happy to put himself about a bit throughout the game and was a thorn in the home defence's collective side. He and Hayes were constantly buzzing around and putting the defence under pressure to encourage mistakes.  Confidence must be low for the Pars as they sit bottom of the SPL and out of the cup. A win last night would have been a boost to the coffers as the fifth round tie is against Celtic. Back to league business on Saturday against Kilmarnock - away. This may not be a bad thing for Dunfermline as they have yet to win at home this season.
