Hibs nearly lost the momentum they need to keep the pressure on the top two but a late penalty saved the day - just. Hibs manager John Hughes hailed his side's fighting spirit after they fought back and stunned Aberdeen with a second-half comeback in last night's 2-2 draw at Easter Road. Hughes’ side ended a thrilling game with five strikers on the pitch and were rewarded with a valuable point when substitute Abdessalam Benjelloun scored from the spot three minutes from time. Hughes insisted his team deserved not to be beaten, even though they gave themselves a mountain to climb when they lost first-half goals to Michael Paton and Steven MacLean. Hughes had wondered recently if he would ever have a chance to have five strikers playing in the same side. It looks like he found a way out of a difficult position by using all that he had at his disposal.He said: "We got two breaks and got two goals. In terms of winning the match, apart from them hitting us on the break, I thought there was only going to be one winner in the second half. All credit to the boys, they showed real character and spirit to keep going and get us back into the match and it's going to have to be like that from now until the end of the season. I'm really delighted for them. It wasn't to be, we didn't pick up the three points but that was because we gave ourselves too much to do, coming off 2-0 down at half-time."
