Peat Hopes He Secured Enough Dough

Being captain brings a lot of responsibility on and off the field Berwick Rangers goalkeeper Mark Peat plans to have a day off his day job in a bakery on Monday to avoid an Old Firm ear-bashing from workmates. Berwick take on Celtic on Sunday in a Scottish Cup fourth-round tie and the captain of the Third Division club has been besieged by advice and instructions since the draw was made at Hampden in November. Former Aberdeen and Arbroath player Peat knows that with regards his bakery colleagues, he is in a no-win situation at Shielfield Park. The part-timer said: "I work nightshift in Greggs bakery at holiday time, in the factory, and I wouldn't have been able to come here today if it had been my normal shift. But there has been good banter in the work since the draw, my workmates have been good with some asking me how many I am going to let in. The Celtic fans have been saying I better let in so many goals and Rangers fans have been saying I better not concede. So I have taken next Monday off so I don't have to take pelters from one or the other." Peat has also had to deal with team-mates looking for him to secure a suitable ticket allocation and a more than suitable bonus - although he joked that he might have done better with the latter. He said: "The players are buzzing and the first thing they mentioned after the draw was the tickets. I'm the captain so I have had to do all the negotiating. The players have been in my ear and I have had to go back to the club and then back to the players. It's been a bit of a battle. I have been negotiating bonuses as well - I thought we could have got more to be honest! I need to go back to the players to tell them and I will get an earful from them if it's not what they expect. But we are all looking forward to it, we are really excited. Sky are covering the game and that's what dreams are made of. It would be a bit of a miracle if we did do anything and even to get a draw would be unbelievable."
