Annan Atletic have had to move fast to save face after they had to cancel their annual tournament. Annan have been forced to cancel their annual pre-season four team tournament that was scheduled for 17-18 July. The club struggled to find a side that could replace Partick Thistle who pulled out on Monday after drawing the Galabank men in the First Round of the Co-operative Insurance Cup. Harry Cairney’s side will now play a pre-season friendly with Second Division Ayr United on 17 July with a 3.00pm kick off and will face the other side due to compete in the tournament, Workington Town, in a friendly at a later date. Galabank Chairman Henry McClelland said: “We have always tried to get one team from each of the three divisions of the SFL along with a non-league side. It has been difficult to find a replacement for Partick Thistle and that is due to budget restraints throughout the game. Reduced squad sizes mean that managers are struggling to commit to two games in 24 hours.” Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba.net)Admin Team (admin@scottishfitba.net)This is Scottish-Fitba.Net
