Dunfermine managed to get past the first hurdle of the Scottish Communities League Cup Jim McIntyre watched his Dunfermline side play out a hard-fought 2-1 win over Annan in the Scottish Communities League Cup first round. The Pars goals came in the first half from Andy Barrowman and a late winner from Andy Kirk on Saturday. Annan's single reply came from David Cox but Kirk's goal ensured Dunfermline went through. McIntyre said: "We had a good chat at half-time on how we weren't creating opportunities so in the second half I though we were a lot better and created a lot more chances. How the linesman gave us offside when we had the ball in the net I'll never know." The Pars manager was referring to what he thought was a third goal when Barrowman was flagged offside as he slotted in from close range following a pass by Liam Buchanan. McIntyre added: "I was pleased to see the two strikers get on the scoresheet. I actually thought Barrowman was our stand-out player today; he linked up very well and was very strong in the air. Joe Cardle was very good as well and proved he can be very difficult to handle."Annan manager Harry Cairney was not too upset with the loss and was full of praise for how his side played against SPL opposition. He said: "We created a lot of chances, as did they, and we put them under a lot of pressure. I though we played well against an SPL side and I am very proud of the boys and the performance they put in. They all put in a good shift today."
