Only One Set Of Ribbons Required

No matter who wins the Alba Challenge Cup, a team favouring blue and white will be celebrating As both of the Alba Challenge Cup finalists home colours are blue and white there will definitely be ribbons of those colours on the cup handed to the winning captain today. Queen of the South take on Ross County at McDiarmid Park today but blue and white strips will be only found in the spectators as neither side will be wearing their first choice colours. To avoid a colour clash both teams will wear their second choice colours with the Dumfries men in yellow and blue and men from Dingwall in an all red kit with white trim. Queen of the South will be missing the goal threat of striker Colin McMenamin in as he is cup-tied. Midfielder Rocco Quinn is out with a hamstring problem, while youngster Daniel Orsi also misses out through injury. Manager Kenny Brannigan is looking for his men to repeat the form they showed three weeks ago when they beat the Dingwall side 2-1. He said: "If we play like we did that day we will lift the cup. We competed really well and stood strong when they tried to put us under the cosh in the last 15 minutes. It would be a great achievement for this group of players to win something after a difficult season at the club.''  Ross County striker Steven Milne has been passed fit to play in the final which leaves long-term absentee Darren McCormack as the only player not included in manager Jimmy Calderwood's squad. The final is a welcome distraction in a disappointing season for County, with manager Calderwood saying: "This will give us a breather in terms of looking to survive in the league. As a boy growing up you dream of days like this when you play in a cup final or play for your country. There will be no pressure on us as this game will not affect people's livelihoods. That pressure will return when we go back to league business."
