Not What The Doctor Ordered

Stirling Albion looks to be in the same category as the toxic loans that took the financial world to it's knees The Stirling Albion Supporters Trust is calling on the Stirling community and fellow football fans to keep backing the BuyStirlingAlbion campaign following news that the latest attempt to secure their club’s future has failed. Paul Goodwin, the BuyStirlingAlbion campaign spokesperson, said: "We are disappointed and concerned that Dr Mackay’s interest in buying Stirling Albion has ended.  Our concerns are that Dr Mackay’s decision to pull out of discussions would appear to reinforce our long standing opinion about the club’s precarious financial position.  We have said since our campaign began that a fundamental change in the structure of the club and a new business model structured around community ownership is the only way that we can see the club survive and prosper in the future.  The last three months have been difficult for our fundraising campaign whilst another high profile alternative proposal to ours was on the table. Unfortunately Dr Mackay’s reason for walking away is unlikely to encourage a flurry of new interested parties so it is even more important now that the campaign’s efforts to save Stirling Albion and ensure a senior football club for the city of Stirling and its community succeed."
