Not Same Again Please For Pascali

Nobody likes the dog-fight at the wrong end of the table Manuel Pascali does not want to be playing in the pressure cooker that is a relegation fight at the end of this season. Last season was bad enough as Kilmarnock only secured SPL safety in the last game of the season against Falkirk at Rugby Park. The 0-0 draw sent the Bairns down to the First Division. It could all have been so different if Falkirk's Ryan Flynn volley from 10 yards in the final minutes hit the back of the net. That is in the past and Killie have a new manager, Mixu Paatelainen but are still one of the favourites for the drop this season. But Pascali hopes to to steer clear of another fraught end to the campaign which starts with a trip to Ibrox on Saturday. The former Parma player said: "Last season was terrible for us. I will never forget that game against Falkirk - they had a great chance with five minutes to go. It was the first time in my life that I had been in that situation and I don't want to be there again. The SPL is a tough league and you have to fight every game. But I hope for us, for the supporters, for the club, to do better. We have to do better because everyone deserves better than second bottom. I think we have to learn a lot from the past season, we never had consistency in the results. We need to find that this season." Pascali is enjoying life under Paatelainen and is confident the former Hibs boss will have Kilmarnock ready for the opener at Ibrox. He said: "We are enjoying the new manager and his new training sessions and every day there is something different. The players are working on possession a lot because the new gaffer wants to play with the ball on the ground all the time. We are also working on the defensive shape because the last few years we lost a lot of games 1-0 or 2-0. We need a little bit of time because everything is changing but we are ready for Saturday."
