Not Got Aluko In

Aberdeen will have to cope without Sone Aluko for three months Aberdeen's Sone Aluko faces up to 12 weeks on the sidelines after a specialist in London examined his persistent Achilles problem. The Nigeria international's leg has been placed in a cast which will remain in place for two weeks before the Dons can put him back on the road to full fitness. A statement on the club's official website read: "The initial prognosis is that Sone could face up to 12 weeks on the sidelines, however this is a worst-case scenario and it is hoped that he will make a full recovery sooner rather than later." Winger Aluko started both of Aberdeen's SPL wins this season but missed their subsequent two defeats. He is is central to manager Mark McGhee's plans to turn his side into an attacking force following their disappointing ninth-placed finish in the SPL last season. Aluko missed much of the first half of last season through international commitments and several injuries - he picked up an Achilles problem while training with Nigeria Under-20s ahead of their World Cup campaign. The winger then underwent stomach surgery in January and struggled with several minor fitness problems after a seven-week lay-off. McGhee had been hoping a fit Aluko would come to the fore this season but it could now be close to Christmas before the wide player is fully fit.
