Not An Easy Life For Craig Brown

Managers had to weigh up what they can afford against what they can get. Craig Brown is not taking it easy during the close season. He is keen to make sure the Aberdeen fans know that he is working hard behind the scenes to add to his player pool a Pittodrie. However, the veteran manager is not going for a knee-jerk reaction regarding new recruits, and insists he will only make quality signings. Brown has already signed French defender Youl Mawene earlier this month and is keen to add more new faces if they fit the bill. He said: "We're not going to sign players for the sake of it. I've watched other clubs make a lot of signings and I'm not envious of any of them. But I wouldn't like the supporters to think we are not on the case as we are all working diligently on improving the team. I have a list of players - every agent that phones and every recommendation we get, I write it down, and it will take ages to get through them all. Some of them we know and others we have to find out about."
