No Red Face For McGhee

Mark McGhee will put out a side that will get a result against Rangers. Aberdeen will be without skipper Paul Hartley for the visit of Rangers. The midfielder suffered a hamstring injury in the Co-operative Insurance Cup win over Raith and will be out for three weeks. Sone Aluko (Achilles), Fraser Fyvie (knee) and Peter Pawlett (toe) remain on the sidelines while Andrius Velicka is ineligible, but Michael Paton has recovered from illness and Andrew Considine is hoping to prove his fitness after a hip knock. Dons manager Mark McGhee insists he will not be "embarrassed'' into changing to a more attacking formation against Rangers following criticism of his tactics at Motherwell last weekend. McGhee set up five natural centre-backs at Fir Park as his side secured a 1-1 draw. But he admitted he had been inspired by Walter Smith's tactics as Rangers forced a draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford and McGhee will not hesitate to turn the tables on the Ibrox boss. McGhee said: "Rangers have scored 11 goals in two games so we have got to find a way of stopping them. If that means an extra defender we will put one there and we won't be embarrassed, I can assure you. If we do park the bus it will be because Rangers force us to, not because we are just going out there and dropping off. We will be trying to cope as best we can with good players - some of that will mean defending deep and in numbers.'' James Beattie returns from injury for the game in Aberdeen. Beattie has recovered from a hip problem, but Maurice Edu is a doubt for the trip to Pittodrie with a knee knock. A groin problem kept Nikica Jelavic out of training but the striker is expected to be fit for the clash with the Dons. Rangers have not won at Pittodrie since December 2006 and Kirk Broadfoot believes that record is down to Aberdeen raising their game against the Ibrox side. He said: "I think it's just credit to Aberdeen, they've played very well against us but on a couple of occasions we've been unlucky with goals disallowed in the last minute that maybe would have won the match. Every team in the SPL raise their game against Rangers and Celtic. Maybe Aberdeen do more because the fans get right behind them and make it a good atmosphere and a good game. But it's another game in our eyes. They have done well against Rangers in the past and hopefully we can correct that this weekend.''
