No Place Like Closer To Home

Kilmarnock are still without a manager after another favourite dropped out of the running. Kilmarnock will look "closer to home" for their new manager after Thomas Hassler pulled out of the running. The German World Cup winner has ended his interest in the post after holding talks with chairman Michael Johnston. Killie have now been linked with moves for former player Gus MacPherson and ex-Hearts manager Csaba Laszlo. MacPherson was sacked by St Mirren in May while Laszlo suffered the same fate in January. Johnston said: "Thomas Haessler has informed us he no longer wishes to be considered for the position. We have widened the net by looking beyond these shores, now we will look closer to home. There's still plenty of time for us to consider our options before making an appointment ahead of the new season." Another name linked with the post is ex-Dundee manager Alex Rae, currently first team coach at MK Dons while former Rugby Park strikers Paul Wright, who is a youth coach with the club, and Lawrie McKinna, the manager of Australian club Central Coast Mariners, have also been mentioned as possibilities.
