Hamilton Accies are still top of the Championship despite losing their perfect start to the season after Saturday’s goalless draw at Dundee. However, there were still plenty of positives for the New Douglas Park side. Thanks to other results, Alex Neil’s side increased their advantage at the top and the nature of their performance at Dens Park means that a title challenge from the Lanarkshire men should not be dismissed. Accies were on top in the first half, with Dundee goalkeeper Kyle Letheren making enough saves in those 45 minutes to earn the Man of the Match Award with one block from a Darian MacKinnon effort being of the top-drawer variety. The Dark Blues, who gave former Scotland striker Craig Beattie his debut, were better in the second period however Gary Irvine missed their best opening when he shot over after Peter MacDonald had set him up.Hamilton player/manager Neil said: "Our winning run may have ended but we put in a great performance. There is still plenty of momentum and confidence in our ranks. We played really well in the first half, probably as well as we have away from home all season, but we never got the goals we deserved." Dundee did have the satisfaction of moving into second place but assistant manager Ray Farningham said: "We did not have enough quality and our keeper kept us in the game. The second half was better, although we did not make their goalkeeper work hard enough."
