Jimmy Nicholl has decided to leap two divisions to become assistant manager at Kilmarnock. Recently relegated Cowdenbeath now have a Player-Manager as caretaker boss as their First Division boss in 2010/11 moves out of the Fife fitba's scene. The lure of Dunfermline over Dumbarton and Rangers over Albion Rovers proved too much for Jimmy Nicholl and the former Man U, Rangers and Northern Ireland international has moved from Cowdenbeath, where he was manager, to an assistant manager's post at Rugby Park. The Cowden board will spend the next week looking at CV's from manager's keen to get back into the hot-seat but former Scotland international Colin Cameron, Nicholl's assistant last term, is in line to take over at Central Park and has been placed in a caretaker role with immediate effect. Cameron becomes the Blue Brazil's 24th manager since 1980 and follows such esteemed names in the Central Park hot-seat as ex-Hibs great Pat Stanton, Lisbon Lion John Clark, SPL Manager of the year, and now Finland boss, Mixu Paatelinen, and ex-Liverpool great Peter Cormack who managed less than a month and a half in the job at the start of the century. Former Scotland internationals John Brownlie, John Blackley (both Hibs) and Joe Craig (Celtic) have also had a pop at turning round the fortunes of the beleaguered Fife club in the last 30 years. Cameron commented : "This is a great opportunity for me to show what I can do in a Player-Manager role at Cowdenbeath and the club's first priority is of course an immediate return to the second tier of Scottish football after relegation a few weeks ago via the play-offs." Nicholl guided Cowden to a memorable victory over Dundee and ran many of the top clubs in Div 1 close last term before the Fifers were relegated after one season in the second tier.
