Settling in at a new club is always easier if there are some players you know are already there.

Iain Thomson is sure he made the right decision to leave Stenhousemuir and sign for East Stirlingshire despite his new club's performances in the last two seasons. He has been welcomed by some well kent faces as he prepares for the new season. Thomson was part of the Berwick Rangers team that won the Third Division in 2007 before he helped the Warriors win the play-offs in 2009.The midfielder said: "I know a few of the boys and the management team from my previous clubs. That was great but what also made it an attractive move was that the people here want to progress East Stirling as a club. You want to be part of something that is progressing and I enjoyed that approach at Berwick and Stenhousemuir. David Greenhill and Michal Bolochoweckyj played at Berwick and I know a lot of the Edinburgh based boys as well. There was a fair amount of texting going on as we all discussed moving here and in the end 6 or 7 new boys came in. They are all good experienced players and good footballers which is important as well."
