Hibs fans have a new favourite in the shape of Pa Kujabi. The defender was left humbled after hearing his name being hailed from the stands during Saturday's 1-0 Scottish Cup win over Kilmarnock. He has rather dauntingly found himself compared to Roberto Carlos since his deadline-day arrival. While his display against Killie may not have been at that level, Kujabi displayed energy, craft and tactical awareness during his Easter Road debut. He said: "I can't thank them enough, it was great, I want to work hard to continue to give the fans what they want to see on the pitch. I could hear everyone clapping when I did something good, but I was more focused on the game. But after the game you can think, 'that was special to hear them chanting my name' - but it was the whole team - not just Kujabi." Kujabi was not the only debutant as he was joined by Matt Doherty and Roy O'Donovan, while Tom Soares and the superb James McPake made their second appearances in Hibs colours. Pat Fenlon was busy during the transfer window, but going on Saturday's performance there were signs it could prove successful. Eoin Doyle got the early goal which proved to be enough to secure Hibs a place in the quarter-finals of the William Hill Scottish Cup, a competition they have not won since 1902. Striker Garry O'Connor also had a goal ruled out for a foul on Kilmarnock keeper Cammy Bell. Hibs had to show their defensive qualities in the second half, but were no less impressive. Kilmarnock's best chance came through Paul Heffernan after he was played through on goal by a fine Liam Kelly pass, but his shot was saved by Graham Stack. Danny Racchi also had an effort saved, while James Fowler lashed a couple of hopeful shots at goal. Given Killie enjoyed territorial dominance for much of the game, there was a disappointing lack of penetration against a Hibs side displaying a new-found stubbornness. Rugby Park manager Kenny Shiels was willing to acknowledge that the new faces, including the infectious Kujabi, may have boosted the home side. He said: "I think there was adrenaline - with all the new signings it helped the supporters really get behind the team. The goal didn't help from our perspective as it created some momentum from the stands. There's a lot of good players in that side now, and a few up from England. (However) After 15 minutes we were the dominant force. We killed them with our possession and movement. I'm disappointed at the result, but not disappointed with the performance."
