Partick Thistle have promoted from within to fill the managerial chair.

Partick Thistle have a new permanent manager, in the shape of defender Alan Archibald, to take over from Jackie McNamara who is now manager of Dundee United. Archibald has been in charge on a caretaker basis and has steered the side to a drew 2-2 at Morton in his first game in charge and they have since secured five successive wins to sit within two points of Morton at the top of Division One. Archibald has put his playing duties to one side since taking the managerial reins to focus on the job where he will be assisted by Scott Paterson.Partick chairman David Beattie said: "I'm absolutely delighted to be able to confirm the appointment of Alan Archibald as Partick Thistle manager and Scott Paterson as his assistant. I look forward to working closely with them as we continue to work hard at providing a club that we can all take pride in."
