New Chapter For Page
Going out on loan is not the end of the world and can pay dividends. Motherwell have agreed to extend the deal with defender Jonathan Page for another year which will see him linked to the Fir Park club until 2012. Page signed from Portsmouth in the summer of 2008 and made his first-team debut in the Europa League first qualifying round against Llanelli last July. When Jim Gannon was replaced by Craig Brown as manager at the end of December, Page moved on loan to Second Division side Stirling Albion. Page was on the score sheet twice for the Binos in his 16 games and secured a league winners' medal as Allan Moore's side lifted the Championship trophy. Page said: "It's brilliant to have signed an extension, it gives me a little more peace of mind. My main aim now is to try and claim a place in the first-team squad. My spell with Stirling was very beneficial indeed as you can't replicate the benefits of competitive first-team football. Going on loan had a really positive effect on Ross Forbes who returned from Dumbarton a much better player and made a big impact on the first-team last year.
