No point in hanging around before the season starts to get the basis of your squad sorted

Dumbarton manager Ian Murray has not let the grass grow under his feet as he prepares for the new season. He has managed to persuade full back Paul McGinn to sign on a permanent basis after an impressive loan spell from St Mirren last year. Murray also re-signed goalkeeper Stephen Grindlay and secured youngster Alastair McKerracher signature. Former Queen’s Park player McGinn had the chance to stay with his brother John in Paisley but decided to sign for the Sons after being impressed by the club last season during which time he scored twice for the club. Murray said: "Paul turned down the chance to stay at St Mirren to sign and that is a massive boost. He is a quality player and I am delighted that he is remaining with us for the season ahead."Murray has also has goalkeeper Stephen Grindlay signed up for another season and moved youth academy graduate Ally McKerracher onto a professional deal at the club. He went on: "Stephen was a big part in our good run in the second half of the season whereas Ally is definitely one for the future. He has been getting positive reviews from all the coaches during his time within our Youth Development Programme and I am really pleased that he has committed himself to Dumbarton."
