Motherwell's Early Start Not A Problem: Brown

Craig Brown is looking forward to getting stuck back into football in July. Craig Brown will oversee his Mothetrwell side making an early start to the new campaign when the Steelmen host Icelandic side Breidablik in the Europa League second qualifying round first leg on 15 July 15. Brown is not worried that a return for pre-season training on Monday to play a side whose domestic season is already under way, meaning they could have a physical edge over Motherwell. He said: "We are quite happy. It's a good pre-season preparation but we don't want it to be a pre-season preparation, we want it to be a successful venture in the Europa League. These games that we've got in Europe are better than friendlies, although we have arranged some good friendlies too. We have three games before the game in Europe and they are ideal preparation for the game in Iceland. They are playing and we will have them watched. It's difficult to get over because we have commitments here but we will certainly have a look at them. They have two matches next week so we will see them twice." Meanwhile, Brown admits the ability to strengthen his squad this summer depends on the sale of Mark Reynolds. And he has revealed he would love to see the talented defender snapped up by his good friend Billy Davies at Nottingham Forest. Reynolds has one year left on his contract and has been linked with Rangers and Newcastle in the past, as well as a switch to the City Ground, but Brown says there have been no bids yet.  The Fir Park boss said: "Mark wants to progress his career and he has been very good to Motherwell. Mark Reynolds deserves the best move he can get and the club is supportive of his move because it would benefit the club financially, but also because it would benefit Mark and he has been such a good servant here. But we have not had one official inquiry to the club for him. His agent is working on it. We would lose a terrific player but it would give us funds to strengthen the team. Without Mark going, we can't sign anyone. That's it in a nutshell." Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba.net)Admin Team (admin@scottishfitba.net)This is Scottish-Fitba.Net
