Motherwell Miss Out On Europe

Three Scottish clubs make it into the Europa League but the Steelmen miss out. Celtic lifting the Scottish Cup after beating Motherwell 3-0 yesterday means that Dundee United fans will be digging out their passports. Celtic ultimately qualified for the Europa League thanks to their cup win rather than their runners-up spot in the SPL which allows United, who finished fourth in the league, a place in the second qualifying round of the Europa League next season.  It will be an early start for Pewter Houston's side as the second qualifying round kick's off on 14 July with Celtic and Hearts, who finished third in the SPL, making their entry two weeks later in the third qualifying round. Motherwell had hoped to make it back into Europe for the fourth year in a row with a cup win. Sadly for the Steelmen, it was not to be.
