Motherwell Gell On Travels

Steve Jennings sees the early start to the season as worthwhile even if there are long journeys involved Motherwell midfielder Steve Jennings is enjoying the experience of playing for the second time in two weeks in northern Europe and sees the trips as a way to boost team spirit ahead of the new SPL season. 'Well travelled by charter plane to the north of Norway to face Aalesunds in the first leg of their Europa League third qualifying round tie on Thursday. Their win in Iceland over Breidablik last Thursday, added to their win in the home leg, secured the trip and Jennings is not in the least bit bothered by the travel involved. The former Tranmere midfielder said: "It's still your job, you've got to adapt to it. With it being a big gang of lads, all going together, the banter gets you through it. We all have a game of cards or watch a DVD. It doesn't matter really where you are on the planet, if you are with the right group and have the right attitude, you can always adapt." Jennings, who shared a flat with Lukas Jutkiewicz while the striker was on loan from Everton last year, added: "I think it can only help us. You hear about teams going away here, there and everywhere. I spoke to Lukas and Everton went to Australia for a few weeks, so certainly that can do no harm for team bonding. It makes you knit together and makes you tick when the season gets going There are a couple of us, myself Stevie Hammell and Las (Keith Lasley), we're the card school players. We suck everyone in. They can't go until we say so." Motherwell boss Craig Brown still held out slim hopes of re-signing Jutkiewicz this season, until he signed for Coventry on Monday. Jennings said: "I am over the moon for him. But I was always chipping away at him and the gaffer was chipping away at me to chip away at him. He said he would love to come back here if the situation was right for him. Unfortunately it wasn't for us but he had to do what he had to do, and fair play to him."   Editor Ger Harley (ger@scottishfitba net)Admin Team (admin@scottishfitba net)This is Scottish-Fitba Net
