Clubs are being helped to promote their homegrown talent The SPL have welcomed new incentives from the SFA for clubs to introduce homegrown players to their first teams. The ruling body have launched a £500,000 initiative to encourage clubs to develop and promote young players. The Performance Awards Scheme means that SPL clubs who select two Scottish Under-21 players in their starting line-up in any competitive game will receive £750 from the SFA, and £1,000 for selecting three or more. SPL chief executive Neil Doncaster said: "The SPL welcomes the introduction of the Scottish FA's Performance Awards Scheme. SPL clubs already do a lot of good work in this area and incentivising clubs to develop young Scottish talent can only be a good thing for Scottish football."
