Balancing a side is hard and sometimes an old head is required to lend a hand. Queen’s Park are still pushing for promotion from Division Three and head coach Gardner Speirs has added to his squad to help his young side. He has brought in goalkeeper Mark McGeown as regular number one Peter Hamilton is struggling with a thigh problem. Speirs made his move for McGeown following his recent release from Queen of the South. Speirs said: "Mark has bags and bags of experience which will help us at the back. He wanted to continue playing so it is a win-win for both parties." Speirs has also signed former Clyde and East Fife midfielder Paul Stewart and Motherwell youngster Ryan Martin who boosts his options up front. He paid tribute to debutant Paul Stewart after the former East Stirling and East Fife player’s performance in the Spiders 2-1 win at Montrose at the weekend. Speirs said: "Paul had not played for over 2 months since leaving Clyde and we stuck him straight in to the middle of our midfield. He played really well and is a great addition when you consider that both Giuseppe Capuano and Martin McBride have suspensions looming."
