McInnes Trying To Contain Excitement

Hearts take on St Johnstone in the cup and he can't wait for the game to start St Johnstone manager Derek McInnes is relishing the excitement rather than the toughness of Sunday's Scottish Cup fourth-round tie against high-flying Hearts at Tynecastle. Jim Jefferies' Jambos are one of the form teams in Scotland at the moment and go in to the game having won eight of their last nine matches and on the back of a 1-0 derby win over Hibs in Gorgie. However, McInnes' side, themselves fresh from an encouraging 1-0 win over Inverness in their last game, picked up a point in the first league game of the season at Tynecastle in a 1-1 draw and will be looking for a repeat of that stoicism and resilience in the cup. McInnes said: "The draw could have been kinder. It's tough but it is also a tie which brings a sense of excitement with it and we know exactly what we are heading into. Hearts are flying in the league and will go into the game full of confidence but we are in not bad shape ourselves and so have no fears. A run in the cup would be most welcome, not least from the financial point of view and I know the fans and players would like to get back to the latter stages of a cup competition." The Perth club are in decent shape with regards to injuries for the trip to Gorgie as only midfielder Jamie Adams is a doubt with an ankle knock. And McInnes received good news on long-term injured Kevin Moon as the midfielder stepped up his training over the past two days, hoping to put his year-long absence behind him in the next few weeks. McInnes said: "I will integrate Moon into full training gradually and it will be great to have him back. It's taken longer than we had hoped but the important thing is that he is getting there."
